The weather is one of the biggest things that impacts the best time to go to the Bahamas. The country enjoys warm, pleasant temperatures year-round, but like many of the other Caribbean islands, it is also in the hurricane belt. This means that during the Atlantic hurricane season, which lasts from June to November, the Bahamas may experience some hurricanes. The month of May, while not technically part of hurricane season, also tends to see a lot of rain. Naturally, most people consider the sunnier months to be the best months to visit the Bahamas.
Average Temperature
Although it doesn’t ever get really cold in the Bahamas, the temperature does vary a bit throughout the seasons. Between May and October, the Bahamas tend to have highs in the mid to high eighties and lows in the seventies; between November and April, they tend to have highs in the high seventies to low eighties and lows in the sixties. Even if it weren’t mid-hurricane season, the extreme heat of the summer months would make for a less-than-ideal vacation. Stick with winter and early spring trips to ensure the best weather in the Bahamas.
Average Precipitation
Thanks to its tropical climate, the Bahamas have a clear rainy season and less-rainy season (although it’s not terribly “dry” during the latter season). As you might expect, this lines up pretty closely with the hurricane season; there are more than six inches of rain, on average, from June to October. May and November have three to four inches of rain, on average, while there are less than two inches from December to March. Since heavy and persistent rain can limit outdoor activities, the lower-precipitation months are usually the best time to visit the Bahamas.

Unfortunately, the best time to travel in terms of weather is often the worst time to travel in terms of prices and availability, because everyone wants to travel when the weather is nice. The highest tourist volume is seen in the Bahamas from roughly the start of the year to mid-summer. There is a sharp decline in tourist volume in the fall when school starts AND the weather is bad, and it tends to remain fairly low for the rest of the year. Hotel prices follow accordingly, with higher prices from late winter to mid-summer and reduced prices the rest of the time. If you don’t mind visiting the Bahamas during the wetter and hotter months, then you may consider the less busy, less expensive late summer to be the best time to visit.
