The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is a luxury hotel located in the posh seventh arrondissement of the city. It’s near landmarks such as the Galerie VENDOME, Place Vendome, and the Hotel Rika. This hotel opened in November 2016, and it has all of the things you’d expect from a luxury hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The interior has a modern feel with Asian accents and lots of small details to take note of. Most importantly - my room was spacious with a high ceiling that had skylights so I could see sunlight during the day. The location is excellent because it’s close to many great restaurants and cafes. There are also plenty of monuments within walking distance like Place Vendome, Palais Royal & Jardin du Luxembourg gardens, and Notre Dame de Paris (although this one requires an Uber or taxi ride).
Awards and Recognition
This Shangri-La hotel has quickly become one of the best hotels in Paris for business travellers. It has also been named one of the best luxury hotels in Europe in 2017, 2018, and 2019 by The Asian Travel Award. The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris also won the best hotel in France award by The Luxury Hotel Award in 2017 and 2018. It’s also the first “Shangri-La” branded hotel in the city, which makes it a popular choice for tourists.
Best season to visit
The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is open all year round, so you can visit anytime. However, I would recommend visiting between October and April. This is when Paris is at its best weather-wise. During this period, it doesn’t rain much and temperatures are moderate. It also happens to be when most cities in Europe celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Christmas in Paris is a magical time with the city decorated in lights, great food and shopping deals, and events happening all month long.

The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has an indoor pool and a fitness centre. There are also several on-site dining options. You can dine at the EDGE Restaurant, the Bistro & Bar, or the Café de l’Hôtel. While you’re at the hotel, you can also use the free WiFi. There’s also a business centre with computers and printers, and a gift shop.
The Good
- Comfortable beds - The beds are made with crisp white linens and fluffy pillows.
- Spacious rooms - I stayed in a Deluxe Room with a king-sized bed and a spacious living room area with a mini bar.
- Great location - The hotel is located in the seventh arrond-issement of Paris. It’s close to the Champs-Élysées, the Eiffel Tower, and many other attractions. It’s also near the Louvre Museum, which you can reach by a short walk or by taking the Metro (subway).
- Friendly and helpful staff - My room was stocked with sweets, water, and champagne when I checked in. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. They can help you book tickets to popular attractions, recommend good restaurants, and arrange for a taxi to take you to the airport.
The Bad
- The pool is small, and you can’t really swim in it.
- The hotel is pricey - The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is one of the most expensive hotels in Paris.
- No free WiFi in rooms - The only way to get WiFi in your room is to buy an expensive package.

The hotel is also close to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Palais Royal gardens. It’s also near the Metro Stop (subway station), which you can use to get to other parts of Paris. You can walk to the Louvre Museum in 20 minutes, and the Eiffel Tower in 30 minutes. You can take a taxi or Uber to the Arc de Triomphe and Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
