The Four Seasons is one of the oldest and most well-known luxury hotel chains. When you think of a high-end hotel, you think of the Four Seasons. The brand has locations from New York to Istanbul, with properties in places like Punta Cana, Bangkok, Miami, and more. Although there are many hotels under the Four Seasons umbrella, each location is different and tailored to its specific area. The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea is one such property. It’s located on the south side of Maui in an area called Wailea. This resort caters to travelers who want extravagant amenities and a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But how does it stack up against other Four Seasons locations? Keep reading to find out…

Awards and Recognition

The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea has been recognized for excellence in both customer service and the quality of the resort. The hotel’s concierge team has been named among the top service providers in the country for the past few years, and the resort itself has received multiple awards and recognition for excellence, including being named one of the “Top 100 Hotels and Resorts in the World” by Travel + Leisure for more than a decade, and being recognized as one of the “Top 10 Beach Hotels in the U.S.” by Condé Nast.

Best Season to Visit

The best time to visit the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is dependent on what you want to get out of your trip there. If you’re looking for the most comfortable weather, then you would want to visit during the summer months. The summer brings warm and humid weather, with temperatures that average around 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit. If you like to go to the beach, the summer is a great time to visit since water temperatures are warm. The best time to visit if you want the most amount of sunshine is between February and April, which is what they call “low season.” It’s not the best time to visit if you’re looking for a lively crowd or want to be close to other popular attractions, though.

Amenities

The resort features numerous amenities, both on-site and off. It boasts two oceanfront pools that are heated year-round, several restaurants, two bars (one of which has happy hour every day from 3-6 p.m.), a full-service spa, fitness center, tennis court, two putting greens, two children’s pools, and much more. The hotel also has a state-of-the-art business center with computer stations, printing and faxing capabilities, and a boardroom that can seat up to 16 people. The resort also has a concierge lounge that can be accessed by hotel guests as well as guests of the neighboring Hyatt property. The resort also offers a wide variety of excursions that can be booked either online or through a concierge. Some of these excursions include snorkeling, kayaking, whale watching, sunset cruises, and more. Guests can also use the resort’s car service to get around the island.

The Pool and Fitness Area

The pool area consists of two pools. The smaller of the two is a children’s pool that’s separated from the larger one by a small waterfall. The main pool is a whopping 13,000 square feet, making it one of the largest pools in the state. The main pool also features a swim-up bar with bartenders who serve drinks such as beer, cocktails, and tropical fruit smoothies. If you’re more of a lounger, no need to worry — there are plenty of lounge chairs for you to choose from. The fitness center at the resort features machines and free weights. As far as amenities go, the fitness center is a pretty basic facility. The gym is located on the same floor as the main pool, although it’s located a few stairs away from the pool, so you don’t have to worry about noise if you’re trying to get some work done. Plus, the gym has its own entrance, so you can come and go without having to walk past the pool area.

Dining at the Resort

The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has a lot of dining options that cater to all types of people. You can find a wide variety of Asian food, seafood, Italian, Mexican, and even traditional American fare. When you visit, you can’t miss the Ka’an Cafe, which is the resort’s only all-day dining option. Ka’an is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day and both indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee shop, which is located directly next to Ka’an, is open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily and offers a wide selection of classic coffee beverages as well as hot and cold teas, pastries, and sandwiches.

Getting there

The best way to get to the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea is by flying into the Kahului Airport. From the airport, you can either rent a car or use one of the island’s shuttle services to get to the resort. It’s important to note that the resort doesn’t offer transportation to and from the airport, but there is a free shuttle from the airport that stops at nearby hotels, including the Four Seasons. If you want to take a taxi from the airport, expect to pay about $90 one-way.

Pros and Cons

Pros - The resort offers a wide variety of food and beverage options, so you’re bound to find something you like. You can have breakfast at Ka’an, lunch at the Beach House, and dinner at Kai. The resort offers tons of excursions, so you can really make the most of your stay by booking a few of them. The facilities are top-notch, and the resort has so many amenities that you’ll never run out of things to do. The price of a stay at this hotel is higher than average, but it’s definitely worth it. The grounds are pristine, and the staff is very friendly. Cons - While the resort does offer a lot of excursions, some of them are too expensive for the average person to afford. You can always book your own excursions, but it’s harder to find deals when you book on your own. The resort is on the southern side of the island, which is where most of the resorts are located. It’s a great place if you want to relax and avoid the crowds, but it’s not the best place if you want to be able to explore. There’s no free WiFi at the resort, which can be both a positive and negative.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a resort that’s quiet and offers tons of amenities, the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea is perfect for you. The resort is located on the southern side of the island, so it’s away from the crowds and noise. Plus, it has a lot of different dining options and offers a wide variety of excursions, so you’ll never be bored while you’re there. The price of a stay at the resort is high, but if you can afford it, it’s worth it. You’ll get top-notch service and an amazing experience that you won’t get at cheaper hotels.
