There are a lot of great all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, but Wild Orchid is something special. This adults-only property is located on the north shore of Montego Bay and offers guests exclusive access to several nearby attractions. It’s not your typical all-inclusive resort, but if you’re looking for a more upscale experience with an emphasis on privacy, it might be just what you’re looking for. Orchid features 250 rooms in four unique buildings: Lotus, Hibiscus, Arum and Fern. All feature private verandas with views of the gardens or the aqua-blue pools that are dotted throughout the property. The private nature of this property also extends to its dining options. In addition to the main buffet restaurant, there are also two smaller restaurants where guests must make reservations and another bar that serves snacks and drinks throughout the day.

Awards and Recognition

There are no specific awards for this property, but it is worth noting that it has been voted “Best Resort in the Caribbean” and “Best Resort in Jamaica” by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine for five years in a row. It’s also been given the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award each year since 2015. While the property itself has no awards, the fact that it has been recognized as the best in its region for several years in a row is worth acknowledging. Early in the year, it’s a great time to visit this part of the Caribbean. Temperatures tend to be on the cooler side, but there are no hurricanes. The average high temperature in February is 82 F, with an average low of 72. You can expect the precipitation to be at its lowest during this time of year, with a monthly average of 3.5 inches.

Best seaso to visit

There is no bad time of year to visit Wild Orchid, but if you want warm weather, you might want to avoid the end of April through the end of June. This is the rainy season in Jamaica, and while the rains won’t affect the resort itself, they will make road conditions less than ideal. The rest of the year is warm and dry, making it a great time to visit this part of the country.

Amenitites

You can expect just about anything you want at Wild Orchid, from access to nearby golf courses to scuba diving lessons. There are also on-site tennis courts and a fitness center, as well as a spa that offers a wide range of treatments. One of the best amenities at Wild Orchid is its exclusive access to the nearby Wild Walk. This nature preserve is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, including tropical birds and butterflies. There is also a nature trail that winds through the preserve and ends in a waterfall.

Dining at the Wild Orchid

Dining at Wild Orchid is a little different from other all-inclusive resorts. The main buffet restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, but for breakfast and lunch, you have to go to a smaller dining room. This keeps the crowds in the main restaurant to a minimum, so it isn’t as noisy. Wild Orchid also has two specialty restaurants: the Hibiscus and the Arum. The Hibiscus is open for dinner and features an Asian-inspired menu. The Arum is open for both lunch and dinner and focuses on Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.

Recreation at the Wild Orchid

One of the best parts of staying at an all-inclusive resort is the access to nearby activities. At Wild Orchid, you have access to the attractions at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. This includes the nearby Irie Blue Waters Adventure Park, which offers everything from a zip line to a ropes course. There is also a water park, a go-kart track and a Ferrari-Caramello Driving Experience. You can even take a helicopter tour of the island. While there is no casino at Wild Orchid, the Montego Bay Convention Centre is just across the street, and it has an adjacent casino. You do have to walk through the Convention Centre to get there, though, so it’s not an ideal solution if you’re looking for something more private.

Getting there

If you’re flying to Wild Orchid, you’ll want to fly into Montego Bay Airport (MBJ). It is a small airport that has flights from major cities in the United States, as well as several major cities in Europe. It is a fairly short drive to Wild Orchid, so you’ll be at the resort in less than an hour. If you’re flying with Air Jamaica, you’ll want to fly into Kingston Airport (KIN). It is a larger airport and is about an hour and a half drive to Wild Orchid. If you’re flying with American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Air Canada or Delta, you’ll want to fly into Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). It is about a three-hour drive from Wild Orchid.

Pros and Cons

Pros - If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, Wild Orchid is a great choice. It is an adults-only property, which means it is more quiet than most all-inclusive resorts. It also has access to several nearby attractions, so you won’t feel like you’re trapped on the grounds. The dining options are also quite impressive, with two specialty restaurants. You can also expect top-notch service from the friendly staff. Unlike some other all-inclusive resorts, the staff at Wild Orchid don’t use a tipping system. Instead, they are well-compensated for their work, and it shows in their attitude towards the guests.

Cons - This is an expensive all-inclusive resort, so it isn’t for everyone. The trade-off for the higher price is that you have access to nearby attractions such as the Wild Walk nature preserve, as well as great dining options. If you’re looking for a more low-key experience, Wild Orchid might not be the best choice.

Bottom line

Wild Orchid is a great choice for an upscale all-inclusive resort. It has a more private atmosphere than some of the other nearby resorts, so it is quieter. There are also access to nearby attractions, such as the Wild Walk nature preserve. It is an expensive vacation, but if you’re looking for a more upscale experience, it is worth the money. If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, Wild Orchid is an excellent choice. It is an adults-only property, which means it is quieter than most all-inclusive resorts. It also has exclusive access to nearby attractions. The dining options are some of the best among all-inclusive resorts, with two specialty restaurants. You can expect top-notch service from the friendly staff. If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, Wild Orchid is a great choice.
