Awards and Recognition
The Montego Bay Jewel Grande has not yet been open long enough to be recognized by many travel organizations, but you can expect that to change as the word gets out about this new resort. In the meantime, its sister resort, the Jewel inlet Grand in Panama City has been recognized by the Travel and Leisure TREND Luxury Travel Award for the top “Hotel Transformation of the Year”.
Best season to visit
The Jewel Grand Montego Bay Resort & Spa is a year-round destination. There are slight temperature variations between seasons, but they are not enough to cause major differences in the enjoyment or comfort level of your stay. The best time to visit Jamaica is determined by your personal preferences and travel habits. If you like it hot and humid, or are vacationing with kids, go when it is summer in the northern hemisphere, July through September. If you like it a bit cooler, or are planning a romantic getaway, visit during spring or fall. If you want to avoid crowds and high prices, visit during the shoulder season, the transition months between high and low seasons.

The Bad
The Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa is brand new, so it is not surprising that there are still some kinks to be worked out. However, the resort is working diligently to take care of any issues as soon as they arise. The resort is new, and some of its amenities are still being completed, including the spa. Multiple restaurants are open, but others are not yet fully operational. There is construction happening all around the resort, so if you are looking for a “get-away-from-it-all” experience, this may not be the place for you. Many of the resort activities are new and may not be as polished as what you might expect at an older, more established resort.
Getting there
The Montego Bay Jewel Grande is located about three miles from the Montego Bay airport, which is well served by major airlines. Once you arrive in Montego Bay you can take a taxi to the resort, which is about a 20-minute ride. If you are on a tight schedule, this is not the best way to travel. You can also arrange a shuttle service to the hotel. This is a better option if you have a group or are on a tight schedule. If you prefer, you can also take a flight to Negril and then arrange transportation to the resort. This is a good option if you plan to visit both resorts during your stay in Jamaica. Negril is about three hours from Montego Bay.
Bottom line
If you are looking for a luxurious, tropical getaway that is full of new adventures and experiences, the Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa is a great choice. This new resort is the perfect place to relax and unwind in a warm, friendly atmosphere. There are still some finishing touches being put on some of the new amenities, such as the spa and some restaurants, but these are minor issues that should be resolved soon.
