Known for its regal beaches and overflowing tourist sites, the Bahamas is a famous vacation destination for lone travelers, honeymoons, friends, and families. The country has 700 islands and over 2000 cays, home to golden sand beaches, deep blue seas, national parks, and trails. Because of its vast water bodies, the Bahamas is best toured by boat cruising, snorkeling, and diving.

Although the Bahamas offers several outdoor activities, you cannot stay outside all day. Fortunately, the country has a wealth of luxury hotels and resorts for all budgets. Some of them offer all-inclusive Bahamas resort packages that cater to all styles of travelers. If you love overwater bungalows, the Bahamas does not have one. However, Disney's Polynesian Village resort is nearby in Florida.

Disney's Polynesian Bungalows

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is located in Orlando, Florida, and is the closest overwater bungalow to the Bahamas. It has 20 overwater and 360 deluxe studios to accommodate guests. The bungalows are Bora Bora style, bringing you the South Pacific experience in the modern Florida City.

The area is surrounded by pools, parks, and other facilities that modern resorts have. Since the Bungalows are limited, you should to book your room in advance to secure one. However, as a Disney vacation club member, you can redeem points at the Polynesian resorts since it is affiliated with Disney.

What Awards Does Disney's Polynesian Bungalow, Orlando Florida Have?

In 2016, the Disney vacation club won three awards for Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. The American Resorts Development Association awarded DVC the ACE Domestic Project of Excellence Award for the resort. That recognizes them as part of those who have attained the topmost level of excellence in the resort industry.

The other awards awarded to the prestigious club for the resort were the best Special event and interior design Awards. The Disney vacation club also got nominated in three more categories during the American Resorts Development Association 2016 Awards dinner.

When Is the Best Time To Visit The Resort?

Disney's Polynesian Bungalows get booked quickly. There is no off-season at the resort as everyone wants to experience the Bora Bora-inspired location at least once. Because of that, you will need to book your room in advance to secure a space. To do that, you would need to check the availability of rooms on your preferred dates.

Peak seasons in Disney’s Polynesian resort fall on special holidays, like the Independence Day holiday. The location is always busy at that time, meaning everywhere will get booked. The room rates also vary by season and chosen day of the week. Room rates at Disney's Polynesian Bungalows usually hike during the holiday season, from mid-December till early January and Easter week.

Pros of Disney's Polynesian Bungalows

Staying at Disney's Polynesian resort has several perks. Some of them are:

  • Disney's Polynesian Bungalows are close to the magic kingdom.
  • Getting transportation to and from the Polynesian is easy.
  • You can get stunning views of the fireworks all night from the bungalows.
  • The interior of the Polynesian bungalows is amazing. They have pools, a kitchen, and other handy facilities you need.

Cons

  • Getting a room at the Polynesian Bungalow is tough and pricey. However, the services are worth every penny in the end.
  • The hanging chairs on the deck are great but only for a few minutes. You will eventually get tired of swinging. Nevertheless, there are lounge chairs on the deck too.
  • You can easily transfer to them when tired of the hanging chairs.
  • Discounts and promos are not frequent at the Polynesian Bungalows. Nevertheless, the services are worth your money.

Conclusion

Disney’s Polynesian Bungalow is a really great place to stay near the Bahamas. The overwater apartment never gets boring regardless of how many times I have used it. From the kitchen to the bedroom, every part of Disney's Polynesian bungalow screams high quality and gives off the beach house vibe. And, of course, there are subtle pointers in the rooms that show that they are Disney property. The living room, Master bathroom, and kitchen, for instance, have a 180° fisheye view.

When you step outside, on the balcony, there are hanging chairs and two lounge chairs. From the deck, you can sit and enjoy the therapeutic view in a relaxed atmosphere.
