The Sheraton Grand Nashville is a wonderful luxury hotel in downtown Nashville. The location cannot be beat, just a block away from the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bridgestone Arena, and all the other hotels where country stars stay when they come to town. Located in the city’s SoBro district—the area south of Broadway —the hotel has an old-world charm that feels like it belongs somewhere much more sophisticated than Music City. This is not a bad thing. The hotel’s European elegance injects new life into what is otherwise an area known mostly for its honky-tonk bars and country music nightclubs. For anyone visiting Nashville for business or pleasure, the Sheraton Grand offers every possible luxury: spacious and clean rooms with excellent amenities; gourmet dining; top-notch bar service; state-of-the-art conference spaces; and professional staff ready to meet your every need at any time of day.

Awards and Recognition

During its nearly 30-year history, the hotel has won many awards and accolades, including:

  • AAA’s Five-Diamond Hotel Award
  • Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award
  • TripAdvisor’s Hall of Fame Award
  • Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award
  • American Hotel & Lodging Association Best of the Best Award
  • American Society of Association Executives’ Highest Honor for Exhibits and Display
  • National Contract Management Association Award for Excellence in Hospitality In recognition of its architectural significance, the hotel’s exterior is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This designation makes it eligible for low-interest loan programs from the state and federal governments.

Best season to visit

Nashville is a year-round destination, but the summers can get brutally hot and humid, so spring and fall are the best times to visit. Winters are usually mild and short, but the city’s outdoor attractions trail off because of the cold weather. The most popular times of the year are spring and fall, when the weather is pleasant, the city’s many attractions are open, and crowds are thinner than they are during the summer.

Amenities

The Sheraton Grand has it all. The hotel’s guest services team is ready to assist you with absolutely anything, from booking excursions to arranging taxis and shuttles. The concierge has a wealth of information about the city, and can book tickets to events, tours, and shows. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, a fitness center, a business center, and a Grand Dining Room, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel also has several event spaces for a variety of functions and a business center, including a boardroom and private meeting space.

The Good

The hotel’s staff is top-notch. They are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bed is excellent, as are the pillows. The hotel uses a special fragrance that smells good. The entire hotel has a clean, fresh smell that isn’t too strong. The location of the hotel cannot be beat. It is right where all of the action is in downtown Nashville, which is located just a few miles away from the Country Music Hall of Fame. The hotel is also close to the Cumberland River, which flows through the city.

The Bad

The only negative thing about this hotel is that the rates are very high. Expect to pay at least $250 per night. The hotel is also extremely busy. During certain times of the year, finding a room can be difficult. The best way to book a room is to plan in advance and book it as soon as the rates are announced. There is also a lot of construction occurring in the area, so the noise from the work can be loud. The hotel’s website says the hotel has a gym, but the actual gym is under construction and only accessible to those with room-access cards.

Getting there

The hotel is located at 201 Fifth Avenue, Nashville, TN 37201. The airport is about a 45-minute drive from the hotel, but keep in mind that traffic can be a nightmare, especially during rush hour. Nashville also has an excellent public transportation system called the Music City Circuit. The buses run every 15 minutes during rush hour and every 30 minutes at other times. Unfortunately, the buses don’t travel directly to the hotel. You must take the bus to the Music City Central bus station, located near the Nissan Stadium, where you can switch to another bus that goes to the hotel. The entire journey takes about an hour and a half.

Bottom line

If you can afford it, the Sheraton Grand is the perfect luxury hotel in downtown Nashville. The hotel’s staff, cleanliness, and location are hard to beat. The only drawback is the cost of staying at the hotel, which can be prohibitively expensive.
